Absolutely love that 2006 movie, which has become something of a cult film. Saw it on FX tonight for the third time.It's about a guy -- a video game tester -- who gets kicked out of his apartment because his roommate blew all the rent money on Filipino hookers. After unsuccessfully trying to stay with a couple different friends, he moves into his grandmother's house. She lives with two other female roommates... and the three women are like The Golden Girls -- on crack!
The funniest scene in the movie is when the three women are watching TV and laughing hysterically for no apparent reason... because they're stoned out of their minds and have no clue. The guy had hid his marijuana stash in some porcelain jar or other at Grandma's house, and the three women found it, mistakenly thinking it was tea of some sort, so they brewed it and drank it!
(There was a lot of pot smoking in this movie, which I usually hate, but the lead guy just looked so hot doing it for some reason.)
Another very interesting character is this weirdo the guy works with, a total misfit who talks in a robot voice half the time... everybody thinks he's this great genius video-game designer, but in the end he turns out to be a total faker.
I normally don't like dumb movies... but this one is an exception.
In other news, tonight I found out my bank failed. During the real estate bubble a few years back, they apparently made a bunch of bad condo loans in various cities. Anyway, they've been taken over by another bank now and the FDIC has to shell out $1.7 billion. I had a feeling this was coming sooner or later and I'm actually relieved that it's over now.
