A bit bored and out of sorts right now... and climbing the walls over a personal situation that appears to be stuck in limbo at the moment when I really want to achieve some closure. But I don't really feel like writing about all that, so I'm doing this post more as a diversion instead. Last weekend I finally got around to getting a bunch of old photos scanned and on the computer and on my Facebook page. I went to Walgreens where they have a do-it-yourself scanning kiosk and then the pics are burned onto a CD... I did 30-odd photos and it only cost me three dollars, which I think is very reasonable. So here are a few of them. This one is of my aunt Pat, my mom, and my aunt Jean when they were little girls, circa 1930. I never knew my aunt Pat as she died a couple years before I was born, but this photo stuns me in that mom and aunt Jean already have the same facial expressions that I'd see them wear time and again more than 40 years later! Here's one of my grandfather on my mom's side, circa 1932. He died fifteen years before I was born and would be a whopping 137 years old were he alive today. And here's another one of Grandpa, with my uncle Wes (whom I never met), I'm guessing circa 1940: And here's one taken at a family reunion during the summer of 1970... my mom with all her siblings who were still alive at the time (except for my aunt Jean, who for some reason did not attend). From left to right: Uncle Bus, Mom, Aunt Laura, Aunt Margaret, Uncle Tom, Uncle Jim, Aunt Carol, and Uncle Dan. The little dog to the right was Aunt Carol's "teacup" chihuahua, Minnehaha. Of all of these people, only Aunt Carol is still living today: Here's one of me in my highchair, age 2-ish: And here I am at age 16: I'm glad I posted these. I'm feeling a little better already.
