30 May 2009 - Old Family Photographs
Here are some very old photos of my dad's family. I am very grateful to my cousin Barb for posting these on her Facebook page... I've never seen these photos before until now.

My aunt Esther, my grandfather and grandmother, I'm guessing circa 1940:

My dad and my aunt Esther (Dad's sister) as children, circa 1930:

An even older photo of my grandfather and grandmother... I'm guessing circa 1916 or so... Gram looks like just a child here and my grandpa looks so much older, even though they were only two years apart in age:

I'm not sure just when my grandparents married... I found a World War I draft record for my grandfather on Ancestry.com, dated 1917, and according to the record they were already married then, and living on West 25th Street in Cleveland. My dad was born in 1922, my aunt Esther in 1923.

I never knew my grandfather as he died when I was only eleven months old. He lived long enough to see me come into the world, but I was too young to remember him.

I knew my grandmother quite well, though... she even took me in at times and helped raise me when my parents were having problems... she passed away in 1989 at the age of 92.

My aunt Esther passed away about three years ago. I hadn't seen her since about 1977. I didn't see all that much of her growing up because, for some reason, my dad and my aunt were not close as adults. They pretty much went their separate ways and didn't bother much with each other.
