SUBJECT: RE: The Ghost of Adolescence Past
BODY: Hey, Andrew; good to see you're still kicking out there.
I ended up in Colorado when I got out of the Army, back in the early 90s. The ex-wife had some friends here, and it didn't really matter to me at the time. Now, I've grown to like it. You can tell why by checking out the pictures.
Do you still play? I'm still into making music, though the form it takes has gone through many changes over the eons. I've been studying mandolin now for a couple years.
I don't blame you for not wanting to relocate to Texas. I've been through there several times on business, and I could probably not afford to live in the parts that are worth living in.
I sincerely wish you good fortune in the "self-employment stuff" you mention. This is not a good time to be dependent upon another for our livelihood, and I'm exploring possibilities in that direction myself. The latest outlook reports make me very glad to have spent the last couple years cutting debt.
As for having changed... well, I like to think I've grown up in some ways, and stayed young in others. I'm not dreading the day I become a grandfather, but not urging it along either. I suppose my son (22) will have something to say about that.
I don't know how long it's been since you looked, but I was happy to see the old West Tech building reopened and remodeled as loft apartments. If you google it, you can get a few nostalgic press clipping photos to use as desktop wallpaper.
Have a good day,
Jim
