Greetings!
Well my party went over well, everyone but Kate came along...so that was cool.
I almost killed myself taking the roof off my Suzuki sidekick, by myself! and the garbage men and my neighbour were just standing there watching my struggle with the roof...*grumbles* jerks...so needless to say my arms are killing me..On with the party info,
I picked up Markita first (after the stuggle with my car roof ^_^) we went to the bakery and picked up some gluttonous mousse cups and cookies (we picked up enough for everyone at the party but we "forgot" to tell everyone we got something hehe *gobbles up mousse cups* Then we dropped off a late movie at Blockbuster, got some beer, then got some munchies (2 bags of chips and a MASSIVE bag of cheesies (i swear it was HUGE actually it was 908grams!) side note: Markita and I put a decent dent in the cheesies *grins while licking of orange fingers* Then we went to my place...We chilled then Nic and Ryan showed up...We all talked, my mother and grandma showed up bearing food (a veegie and fruit platter, my mom used to run a catering company, which I made most of the platter for, mind you) Mom and Gran left, then Sarah finally showed up...We all listened to music, drank some beer, ate some cheesies, and talked...yeah my parties are really calm and chillin' types...I live in a townhouse so no big hoppin house parties for me, not to mention it's not my style. Then Sarah left at midnight, then Marki-chan, Nic, Ryan and I sat and talked about the 4 of us moving out and getting a place together (which might happen in september) finally at 2am we headed to bed...Marki-chan took my brother's room (whom has moved out *dancing around*) I stayed in my room (duh!) and Nic and Ryan shared my dad's room *laughs thinking if daddy found out that his daughters gay ex-boyfriend and his new boytoy were sharing his bed* anyways...I said my goodnights to everyone *laughs* I even tucked Marki-chan in (yup with a kiss on the forhead too) then I check in with Nic and Ryan, of course Nic was all snuggled up to Ryan (ya know, spoon-style) notes how Nic didn't sleep like that when he slept with me *insert bitterness here* Then everyone woke up b4 me, cuz I'm nocturnal (seriously!) so I crawled out of bed a noon *grin* but I didn't fall asleep till 4-5am-ish...So we talked more (me and my friends talk a lot) then we piled into my other car (actually my father's car) oh yeah he was out of town for a week while this was happening!
Yeah so we took off for a late breakfast at Denny's...then to the art store for Nic to pick up some stuff (he's an artist too...) then to Chapters (the massive bookstore chain in Canada, don't know if they are in the states or other places) and Nic picked up a book...Then to the video store to rent "Vanilla Sky" (my review to follow this post..) we talked more...yak yak yak Finally Nic want's to go home so I drive everyone home and when I get back to my place my dad is home. Chat with him about my Europe trip, book some hostels, then email and fanfics, and finally my diary stuffs, then off to bed (and it's only 2 am!) So following is my "Vanilla Sky" review...(i'll try my best not to spoil anything...and spoils will be marked, if any...) Night everyone!

27 May 2002 - Movie Review: Vanilla Sky

I rented this movie yesterday...Watched it on DVD...
DVD Review:
-Extras: not much in the extras, some photo gallery, director's comments, but not much else...Some previews or something as a feature, seems to have the dirctor talking about how the films helped him with direct "Vanilla Sky", the chapters/scene option...
-Main Menu Interface: the interface was ok...simple and it didn't have any repetitive, loud, annoying music, and no repeating action on the screen, that was a plus...Movie Review:
-Actors: Tom Cruise-brilliant as always, He does a wonderful job as David in this film. It's not over-acted, he gets all the emotions down right, not overblown, but pumped up enough for the movies...Penelope Cruz-Played Sophia, good job, played the character well, she was believable, she emotion was good, she pulls off the big watery eyes well...Cameron Diaz-Played JulieI never liked her as an actress, but she played this character well. She plays an evil-ish person well, and her crazy-person laugh is great!...Kurt Russel-Played ? I don't recall his name in this, didn't play a major role in it, but does a good job -Plot/Story: *sighs* if you have seen this you'll understand...it's the type of movie that has twist after turn after twist...just when you think you have it figured out, it changes...Personally I really liked the story behind this...It was totally confusing 45mins in to about 15-20mins from the end...but it keeps you on your toes...I liked how everything fell into place at the end...some of those twist and turns movies loose track of all the details and you're left wondering what the hell just happened...but not with Vanilla Sky...almost every loose end was tied up at the end...the ending left me wanting more (you'll understand once you've seen it) -Photography: Good, they didn't over-do the super scenery shots, no overly long eye shots, good balance of close ups and distance shots of the actors.. -Sound: I set up my surround sound (dolby) to watch this movie and I found that the people talked quietly and there wasn't much action that warrented surround sound...standard would do I think... -Music: Didn't have a major impact on the movie, but they music they played was good. -Overall: I really liked this movie...lost of plot twists, but everything nicely tied up at the end. It had Tom Cruise in it, what more do you want? (he spends lots of time shirtless, or at least half buttoned up) (yeah sorry but I loved Tom in "Interview with the Vampire" (one of my fave movies) and in "Legand" too)...and for the guys (or girls *shrugs*) Cameron Diaz scantly clad, and a nice shot of Penelope's breasts... So there, that's Shadowess' movie review...enjoy!
