20 Aug 2002 - 52 ways to magic America
I finished reading "52 ways to magic America" by James Flint and added it to my Books read 2002 list. Some of it takes place in Morecambe and Blackpool. It amused me to read excerts out to Sir and see if he recognised the pubs and clubs from the descriptions, which he did of course. Some of the descriptions of Morecambe were surely tounge in cheek as they made our few facilities such as bowling and laser fights sound like a huge fun park and not spread out amongst boarded up shops and demolition sites. I thouroughly enjoyed the book though, and some of the insights in to how magicians perform certain tricks was very interesting.

While I was weeding (or did I mean reading) a lovely Persian cat strolled into the garden and observed me from under the forsythia. It dozed off after a while and snored gently until our cat spotted it and showed it the quickest exit.

I recived my P45 through the post this morning. I am now officially a kept woman. I can't see that lasting for long. I also recieved an application form from the Tourist Department which seems to require a dedicated super woman, experienced in running just about everything, in just a few hours per week. I think it was a bit heavy on the IT and web experience requirements, this is Morecambe after all. Also, I would imagine that the main function of the "tourist" information office would be to give directions out of town to the Lake District. I know I shouldn't be so hard on my home town, it has many redeeming features and apparently a jammed pack event calender. That some of the events involve looking at seaweed or "exploring" the park is by the by.
