New Year's Day
|
Ist January 2002
New Year's Day and I'm opening up the travel brochures and looking for a destination to get away from this blummin Xmas. One down point to the ESL is having no games other than the Saturday ones to attend. I never went to see Enfield on Boxing Day as I now think it's impossible to support both sides at the same time. It has to be one or the other in my opinion at least. Last Saturday at Bowers United was such a downer. It was freeeeezing and the lads missed what openings they did create on the pitch. Credit to the opposition forward for the winner. He took it well. Afterwards in the social club was funny. I watched a father and son play a darts match that lasted half an hour. It went on so long that they eventually decided to throw for the middle to win. Dad won, much to the disgust of the son! My pint lasted just as long because I had blown the last bit of change on a footie club selection scratch card. I wouldn't mind, but the winner was sitting next to the previously mentioned dad. Small world, eh? Did anyone notice the funny floodlighting in the trees behind on goal? I'm sure somebody must have a photograph of it somewhere.
