Friends List

November 23, 2008.
While Estas, Thokk, Lia and Alrick take the air ship to Sanctuary to see about gaining more information regarding hell, I stay behind at the Bastion and go to the library to seek information of my own. Where I meet a short man with white eyes. I ask him about the Lord of Blades. After I explain the reason for my questions he leads me down the length of the library. We meet an iron door with a huge toothed maw. He explains to me that they actually make the door look like that to keep the unwelcome from entering.

He taps the door in a rhythmic pattern and it swings open. He tells me to mind the books as we enter. One of them snaps closed as I pass. I treat it like an animal, as it seems to be a living creature. It cowers back against the back of the book shelf. The man urges me on impatiently.

He shows me nine books, finding me the one that is so cold that frost peels of the pages. He picks it up with no problem and holds it out to me. I tough it tentatively with a forefinger and stick. Breathing on my finger as I pulls frees it, and I cast Energy Resistance on myself before handling the book again. It gives general information about the Lord of Blades and the eighth level of hell, where he is located. It seems that is the level we’ll need to travel to. I check my spells and make sure I can cast Energy Immunity enough times. Lia mentions that, even if we win there is a good chance we may not make it back alive due to sheer numbers.

I excuse myself from the others briefly and go to the Great Father’s office chambers. The guards admit me, and I ask him for a favour. He asks what that favour would be. I hand him two small scroll cases. Inside one is a lock of my hair and the other a tuft of Ubu’s fur along with papers detailing important parts of our lives as well as our full names. They each, also, hold a 10,000 gp diamond. I request that he use the scrolls and information to cast True Resurrection should we not be heard from within a week and a half. He says that he will, and I leave him, returning to the others. I tell them what I’d done. I’d actually had my will scroll for some time. Lia stares at me for a moment before borrowing a dagger from Thokk and doing the same.

We leave the Bastion to travel to the eighth level of hell, arriving just outside a cold iron fortress. We meet three people outside of it, plainly guards. One is squat and covered head to toe in armour and seems to be female, by her voice. The others are taller and thin, also armored but have their faces exposed. They seem to be female too and are flanking Estas. In fact, they set him on fire when she hit him with a flaming chain.

Ubu closes on all three of them, attempting to use his Mithral Tornado to attack each of them. He successfully manages to attack one, but the squat female deflects the energy of his attack, sending it back to injure him. It stops him short before he even touches the third. The fight continues on, with Alrick attempting to attack one of them with a fire based spell. I notice that the one he attacked has a ring on her finger that glows, and she takes no injury. I keep that in my mind when I attack next, taking the time to use my staff to cast Dispel Magic, Greater on the ring, with success. I follow that with a Flamestrike. She manages to dodge some of the attack but still takes some injury.

The battle continues on.. (Game called early on account of mun illness)
