As we enter the room I cast Foresite and am instantly aware that a cleric and two sorcerers are about to cast spells directed at me while two knights prepare melee attacks against me. I respond by readying a Dispel Magic, Greater from my staff for the first spell cast and decide to dodge the first knight to attack. However, Estas is not as luck as he is flanked and attacked by two monks not to long before Alrick is attacked by a third monk and flanked by a fourth. Melisandre briefly is able to distract Lia with some nasty words. As a consequence Lia is run through with her spear, not fatally but badly injured.
Thokk manages to avoid one of the knight’s shield bash attempts as he passes meaning to attack a line of knights with his thrown sword. My Foresight tells me that the knights are now no longer planning to attack me.
Estas brings out his rod of Wondrous Things Fantastical (Rod of WTF). It backfires and turns Estas green. He decides to cast Fireburst, Greater, effecting the two monks in its range unsuccessfully. The monks dodge easily.
Alrick splits one of his rays to attempt to hit the two monks currently attacking him. He hits only one but tries again, with the same results. Luckily, that’s enough to kill the monk, but he begins to glow and then explodes, forcing Alrick to avoid injury himself. It seems he was outfitted with a sort of kill switch.
Ubu move to assist Estas, standing by his side, effectively allowing him to use his Mithral Tornado maneuver to attack both of them. Cassius turns his attention to Thokk, casting Greater Harm augmented with his Blast Infidel ability, managing to injure Thokk badly.
Cassius turns his attention on me, which I sense due to my Foresight spell still being in action. I am able to cast Dispel Magic, Greater, via my staff, and successfully stop his Energy Drain. I give him the two fingered salute.
Most of us manage to avoid several other high powered spells, accompanying our successful evasions with rude words and gestures. Until Estas takes a rather small amount of injury.
One of the sorcerers accidentally hits Melisandre with one of his spells, injuring her rather badly. He is rewarded with death from Cassius. I call out to thank him for doing our job for us before I cast Finger of Death on one of the three remaining, unscathed sorcerers, dropping him instantly and following it up with a Drown, Mass on four of the knights and one of the clerics. That, in turn, successfully drops three knights and one cleric to unconsciousness with death to follow in a matter of moments if they can’t be stabilized.
The monks keep their attention on their adversaries. Estas and Alrick manage to avoid most of the injury the monks are attempting to inflict.
Melisandre keeps all her attention on Lia, managing to hurt her badly though not kill her. Thokk steps to the side and coup de graces one of the knights I’d laid unconscious. Estas casts a Delayed Blast Fireball on the area occupied by the group I’d targeted it. It makes short work of the ones I’d down and injures the knight who resisted my previous spell. He follows that up with the use of his newly acquired Prismatic Bow, targeting one of the remaining sorcerers successfully. The random selection is green, killing the sorcerer instantly with poison.
The fighting continues, and Ubu uses his Bloodletting Strike maneuver on one of the monks after taking a step to flank him with Estas.
The cleric attempted to cast a spell on Alrick which he avoided but then followed with casting a Blade Barrier between us and the casters of the evil team. The other cleric casts Destruction on Alrick, which Alrick is able to resist the bulk of, taking far less damage from it then he would have. Finding his first spell unsuccessful he casts again, Blindness this time and successfully.
I cast a Rejuvenation Cocoon on Lia, seeing that she is in dire need of saving. She regains her health as I turn my attention to Melisandre, successfully casting Hungry Gizzard on her next. I can’t help but get a perverse sense of satisfaction from that.
Estas is still dealing with the monks that flank him, taking injuries from their feet and fists. Estas does manage to kill the monk that he and Ubu are flanking, so Ubu moves to flank the second monk on the other side of Estas. He uses his Rabid Bear maneuver, calling out its name as he does, injuring the monk rather badly in the process while Estas shakes his head and questions why he feels the need to call out the name of his attack. Ubu responds that it seemed appropriate at the time.
Unfortunately, Cassius manages to Dispel my Hungry Gizzard. He tries to cast Bestow Curse on me, but I am able to avoid it by force of will. I decide to change into a huge gold dragon and bite the newly freed Melisandre.
The monks try to attack Ubu and Thokk, unsuccessfully. Melisandre tries desperately to free herself but is unable. We all fight on.
Ubu close on the cleric on our side of the wall of blades, using his Ancient Mountain Hammer maneuver on him, killing him due to massive damage.
Cassius casts another Greater Dispel Magic on me, dispelling my Shapechange. He then casts Slay Living on me, luckily it only manages to do me a little damage.
I cast Finger of Death and Flamestrike on Melisandre. She is able to avoid at least some of the damage from those two spells, but I do manage to hurt her badly. Unfortunately, she returns the favour.
We battle on. Melisandre eventually ending her own life due to a spell cast by Alrick. The tide of battle turns so much in our favour that Cassius takes flight. We find what we think is the dragon’s plathecary but, upon opening it, we discover it just contains a rock with a light spell cast on it and the box is made of cheap, painted wood.
Applause sounds in the hall, and we find a man with silver hair.
