just a quick mention about the news coverage of the Greek Olympics. Is the obsession in the news that the various facilities and stadiums won't be built in time a function of our stereotype of modern day Greece? Are we seeing it that way, portraying it that way, because we believe that Greeks are lazy or slow or don't have a (Protestant) work ethic or can't be trusted...? I happen to know that my local authority is hosting part of the torch procession and that absolutely no preparations have been made for it despite others seeing the urgency of the situation. The guy who should be running it is white and English. Are there stereotypes of white english people unable to organise a world event...?

NBAll diary entries are based on my own perception of a situation or event. They are subjective reflections and often written well after the fact. Other people I mention will have their own version of the events I describe and might disagree with their portrayal. This project is not about libelling people or stigmatising them but about recording my own perceptions of racism as a person sensitized to racism, both as a victim of racism and as a racist.
