I spent all evening dreaming about all of the people I was going to help with my $24 million lotto win. I got up and checked my ticket and laughed OUT LOUD! The guy at the gas station gave my the wrong ticket.
I didn't have a sweet hope......the draw for this ticket isn't until next week...and it's not for $24 million.
I got the kids all tucked in last night and had the most amazing stretch out in my bed. I called Hubby to talk before bed, like we always do, but I didn't get an answer. I wonder what happened to him?
I ended up watching a documentary on stress instead. They called it the silent killer, I always knew that stress was bad for you, but I didn't know exactly what it did, and the show was insightful.
Apparently, on top of causing high blood pressure and heart troubles, the hormones excreted when a person is under stress actually suppress the immune system and therefore can affect your entire body?
Did I ever tell you about the time I went blind? And the doctors said it was a stress induced brain virus?.......it all made sense to me....
There were people who spent their entire careers dedicated to discovering the reasons and effects of stress. One man worked with baboons, because they are genetically similar to humans, and they live in a hierarchy. The dominant Alpha baboons had very little stress in their lives. They didn't die of stress-related illnesses....
The baboons on the lower end of the scale, they had huge amounts of stress hormones in their blood, they had high blood pressure, and they didn't live to an old age, something stress-related usually cause their demise.
Now, a similar study was done on British civil servants, who, like the ape, work in a very distinct hierarchy....the results were EXACTLY the same! The guys (and girls) at the top were healthy and happy and the subordinates were sick and their blood-work and health checks showed high signs of stress. Not only that, but when you asked the 'bosses' how they liked their jobs, they all loved them, the subordinates had very few nice things to say about their careers.
Amazing.....I found it fascinating.
So, my conclusion is to be the boss, and live longer.
And....have you ever noticed that the ones who work the hardest make the least amount of money?
Sounds like a good reason to just get to the top and stay there.
Happy Alpha Day!
Thanks for checking in.
