Success is relative:
It is what we can make of the mess we have made of things.

~T. S. Eliot~

18 Oct 2004 - weekend update
Saturday morning after a nice breakfast of sausage cakes and scrambled eggs, we set out on our day trip to enjoy the county wide fest. The sky did not look too promising but we managed to enjoy the tractor parade of over 200 tractors, plus floats, high school bands, etc. Just as the parade was ending the rain started.

It would rain heavy and then the sun would come out very bright, then more rain. This continued the entire afternoon. So what was to be a nice picnic alongside the scenic trail turned into a picnic inside the vehicle watching the rain pour down. I have to say the pepperoni rolls were a huge success and the no bake cookies turned out good, too. So both recipes are keepers for me.

The field full of vendors was another disappointment. The area was muddy and yucky. WE stayed just long enough for me to find the bargain of the day, a bagful of crocheted granny squares just waiting for someone to put them together to form an afghan. (inside the bag were 162 squares, 3 skeins of yarn, 3 crochet needles......wow, what a bargain, all for $2.00.)

Yesterday was spent mostly resting up from the fall fest. BEing in the cold and the off and on rain sure left me feeling drained.

So today started with icy windshields, cold hands, white frost across everything. 27 degrees. And it has only warmed up to 50 degrees outside.

I am so glad i took my fall pictures last week as the rain saturday made some trees almost bare. I just hope my pictures are good ones. I turned them in to be developed yesterday. they should be back by Wednesday.

I had hoped for a nice sunny day today so I could get started with my painting. But, no sun, just overcast skies, the painting will have to wait as i can only paint on sunny days. *smile*

NOt much else to write. this county wide fall fest felt like a cake that failed to raise.
