It is so hard to believe it will soon be Thanksgiving Day! I am really looking forward to it and hoping it is a nice mild day filled with lots of family, food, and fun!I had an early Thanksgiving dinner at the senior center with my Mom and her friends. Turkey, stuffing, gravy, mashed potatoes, broccoli/cauliflower/carrot steamed veggy dish, roll, butter, milk, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie with a dap of cool whip, and the little favors were pilgrim hats made with an upside down mini reese cup glued onto an upside down stripped chocolate graham cookie, the glue being icing, very cute! And we are hoping to make our own similar favors for thanksgiving day up at mom's.
Here at home we have been spent our spare time this month taking nature walks up in the mountain, watching VHS movies, and reading, along with grape vine crafting, and our usual chores. The latest movies we have watched were "The Flintstones" with john goodman, "Snow Day" with Chevy Chase, Patch Adams with robin williams, Good Will Hunting with robin williams, plus a few others i can not think of right away.
We have already started wrapping presents and also have some Christmas decorations up. No tree yet. Hopefully by this weekend. Also have started watching our favorite Christmas movies. Our favorite so far being "yes, Virginia, there is a santa claus" with charles bronson. I highly recommend this movie. Also watching , probably too often, "The HOmecoming" with john boy and all those other wonderful waltons.
I have discovered something really wonderful....reading books online. And am working on two at the moment. Reading off and on as the mood hits.
My Boyhood by John Burroughs
Narrative of a Voyage to Senegal in 1816 by Corréard and Savigny
I searched online for an old map of the world and am following the voyage fairly closely on the map in the second book. And think I may be addicted to the writings of John Burroughs, but time will tell.
Also we are painting, painting, painting. the chosen color being Santa Fe Smoke. So far it is going quickly and a lot of fun.
Anyway, that is how I have spent some of my time in November.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you are having a great week.
