Success is relative:
It is what we can make of the mess we have made of things.

6 Nov 2006 - Kirstie Alley on Oprah
Today I watched Kirstie Alley on the Oprah tv show. She has lost around 75 pounds and is now around 145 pounds. She looks fantastic! They showed the way she looked before at 220 pounds and the way she looks now after losing around 75 pounds. What a difference! Although I think she was always very beautiful regardless of the extra weight! Now she is so much happier and healthier. Plus, she said she gave up smoking! I think she is a great role model/inspiration for anyone looking to make some changes concerning diet, exercise, etc.

The biggest thing I am trying to get into my daily routine is to drink more water. This seems to be such a big thing to accomplish. Also, I need to get moving... be more active. This is harder to do than ever before.

I also watched Oprah last week when she had the doctor on telling about organs and the damage being overweight does to the heart, etc. Just thinking about all they talked about should inspire me to make some changes in my own life.

And I am just so inspired at Kirstie for appearing on tv wearing a bikini after losing all that weight and also for having the nerve to do it at the wonderful "young" age of 55! I would love to be able to get started on such an inspiring life-changing event.

My promise to myself for the rest of this week
  1. Drink more water
  2. get moving, walk more
  3. add music to my daily routines
  4. think whole grain, fresh veggies, fresh fruit
  5. I can do this

This has been such a struggle for me all my adult life because I use food as a form of self medication. Anytime life gets overwhelming, i can be found with my hand in the cookie jar, so to speak. I so need to change the way I handle stress.
