This morning dawned nice and cool with a gentle breeze wafting thru the open window. Now I have had my morning tea along with buttered toast and have read the morning news. I have finished early morning chores of tethering the goat to a new location, feeding and watering the dog, chickens, goat, and garden cats. Yesterday I made homemade applesauce for lunch. For any readers that have never tried this, it is a very simple operation. First, wash and peel the apples of your choice...I used granny smiths. Then core and slice. Place in saucepan with cold water covering the bottom 1/2 inch or so. Place over medium low heat til it comes to a boil, stirring often to prevent scorching. Cook over low heat til apples are tender. Then mash with a fork. I like my applesauce with small chunks, but it can be put their the blender to make it very fine. Then sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon to taste. Chill or eat while warm. This is a nice and easy cooking project.
I am in the midst of researching the wildflowers growing in my rock garden before it all gets taken apart with the soil being moved and the remaining area made into a nice border. So far I have documented dogbane, queen anne's lace, chicory, and a wild morning glory (bindweed). I have been searching for my little 14 dollar digital camera to document my findings. In the heat and confusion of the early part of August I managed to lay my digital treasure down someplace and can not locate it no matter how hard I search. It has left a big empty gap in my enjoyment of the month. Hopefully I will soon locate it.
At any rate, summer is edging into the cooler days of fall. My favorite time of the year. *smile*
Thanks for stopping by. Have a great day!
