Success is relative:
It is what we can make of the mess we have made of things.

18 Jun 2006 - Can i save some for winter?
Too, too hot! This day finds me attempting to stay cool! IT is hot and muggy outside. I refuse to look at the thermometer. Otherwise, the day is nice and still , not much going other than Lucky getting loose and chasing the rhode island red hens through the woods. He has since been recaptured and put back in place at his doghouse. The hens continue to amble along scratching the ground and pecking at anything and everything. I feel they are totally clueless. They certainly live up to the phrase "bird brain".

I am attempting to keep upbeat today in spite of things. It being Father's Day and all. My own dad passed away in 1993. What a huge difference his absence makes.

Here are some pictures I have taken lately. I hope you enjoy them and they add some measure of beauty to your day.

The Catalpa flowers, very fragrant.

This is a picture I took with my 14 dollar digital. The tree stands out in the empty lot beside the dollar store in town. This huge tree's branches hung low to the ground.

Another picture taken from a few feet away.

It is amazing how many flowers are on one branch! Plus, the leaves are enormous! This is a very unique tree. Sometimes called the cigar tree or bean tree.

A close up view of the old-fashioned roses at Mom's.

It is hot and muggy here. Would be a great day to go wading in the creek or drive over home to swim in the creek behind the barn. Until my pain medicine for my backache kicks in, I will have to make do with a tall glass of ice water. Oh, the joys of mid-life and the wonders that go with it.

I hope everyone is having a grand Father's Day! Thaks for stopping by. I hope your glass is filled with lots of sparkling suntea on ice!

welcome
