Success is relative:
It is what we can make of the mess we have made of things.

~T. S. Eliot~

17 Jun 2006 - mid-June meaderings
Beautiful day here in the valley. Outside the window the pink roses still bloom. I can not remember them blooming for this extended length of time before. I have searched on the internet for recipes and came across a recipe for rose jelly. Rose jelly would really be a nice project! At least it would look pretty sitting on the shelf in those cute little jars.

We have signed up for the reading club at the local library. Also we continue to take our nature walks. Another great tree we have happened on this year besides the paulownia and the tulip tree is the caltapa tree. We first noticed it when in full bloom out beyond the parking lot at the dollar store. The blooms are very fragrant! But, I have been told it is a dirty tree as it sheds long green bean like pods. It would depend on how much work one wants to do cleaning around it before deciding to plant one. I have not made a decision yet.

The cherries are in full swing in my local. Kitty and I have canned several jars. A lot of work but seeing the pretty red cherries beaming through the glass mason jars makes up for all the work. This was a first time at canning cherries. Actually I have not canned anything in some years now. WE did enjoy the entire process and hope to can more things throughout the year.

Yellow Missouri primrose, blue clustered bellflowers, roses, peonies, iris, marigolds, stella D'ore, white lilies bloom in the garden. Blooming wild are the orange roadside lilies, daisies, and blue chicory.

I guess things are just as good as one manages to make them. I strive not to spend too much time thinking negatively. Cheerful thoughts ease the weary soul.

Thanks for stopping by and sharing my pot of hot tea this mid-June day. I hope to write more later in the day. Enjoy and have a great Saturday!
