What a hot humid day we have just had! I started out the day by walking up the holler road to Mom's around 8 a.m. The holler road was just starting to wake up. First a robin darted about the trees on my way down my driveway. Next a crow sounded its wonderful cawing along the holler. The ferns lining the road were still glistening with morning's dew as the little creek gurgled happily along. I stopped and took some pictures with my little camera but I am not happy with the way there turned out so maybe I will try to get better ones to post. At Mom's we sat on the porch sipping tea and listening to the antics of a noisy mockingbird high in the trees. What a ruckus he was making! My sister had made a fruit salad and I had a small dishful. It was delicious and I will try to get the recipe to post here asap.
Around 9 a.m the mockingbird tired of his song and all went back to being nice and quiet.
After awhile I walked back home.
The wild roses were blooming white and fragrant along the fence row and what a treat for sight and smell so early in the morning.
Next we went grocery shopping in town where I was able to stock up on a lot of the basics. I also picked up an application for work at a nearby business. I hope to fill it out and return it sometime this week.
We had a nice picnic along the Potomac before driving back home.
Then this evening I fixed a pizza but let it in too long so it was nicely burnt. *smile* Anyway, we ate or rather noisily gnawed as we watched some of the 2nd season dvds of "King of Queens",, which has become my latest favorite tv show. I can really relate to Doug and his love of food. Yes, here I sat after all these entries still dreaming of one day having the strength to actually be successful at weight loss.
Now it is late and still very hot and humid even though I have the ceiling fan on and the window open. Fresh cool air is gently blowing through the curtains but still it is too hot!
I am thankful my brother Captain Ron is back home and improving after some days spent in the hospital. Plus, my sister Bell is doing great after suffering a bad fall in late April.
Winston, our little yellow cat, is sleeping beside me as I type. He is a very gentle mannered and an all around great cat! As far as cats go , that is! *smile*
WEll, another Memorial Day over and gone with many Special thoughts to those that gave their all! Outside the old fashioned roses and huge peonies hang heavy and fragrant in the still night.
Thanks for stopping by and spending some time with me. I hope your summer is the best one ever.
