Success is relative:

11 May 2006 - Blooming in the garden today
My last entry was February 11, 2006. How did I manage to go so long before making a new entry? It is hard to understand. At one time, I could not imagine going a day without writing in my diary.

The past winter was very mild in my area. Spring came too quickly and seems even more in a rush to leave. The dogwoods bloom along the holler road. Gentle white flowers among the numerous budding trees. In the yard, white and purple lilacs are fading. What a delicious fragrance they added to the warming Spring air when they were at their peak in blooming. Most of the daffodils have bloomed and turned to papery memories. Snow drops stand in full bloom along with some type of newly bloomed, tall daffodil that has a soft light yellow flower.

This is a good year for the orange poppies as I have never seen so many buds ready to open. Already two are blooming vibrantly among the tall grass. Attempts to pick them are thwarted though as they drop their petals so easily.

The forsythias made quite a display this year out along the field. I have more to dig from along the front driveway to transplant along the field row. I do not want to block off the view of the field though so this will take some creative thinking. But, little forsythias are attempting to take over my rock garden along my drive so they do have to be dug and planted elsewhere.

Perennials take lots of work to look good. It is a constant battle which I sometimes manage to win. My rock garden desparately needs more work. I did manage to weed the entire south side of the biggest rock garden. Now the front needs to be done. I have plans of planting zinnias among the rocks. They should make a great display after the perennials have all finished blooming.

The iris look very promising and the roses are outgrowing their boundaries.

The mower sets exhausted from last summer and probably needing lots of work before I can expect any use of it. Same ole, same ole lawn mower blues.

I have much to plant, dig, transplant, trim, mow, etc, etc, etc....

I have added lots of raw vegetables and fruits to my daily food intake so maybe this year will be the year I finally reach and maintain my goal weight.

Special thanks to my commenters, both private and public. Your comments make my day!
