Current time in my woods
26 Nov 2006 - In Reverence...
It was Autumn in Britain as well as in many other places on at least half of the planet. So what’s new then? But again and again I am amazed by the wonders she brings in…While I enjoyed the Amazing Fall Feast of colors in New York, I’ve returned home to the no less beautiful scenery. Such doesn’t happen here often, last time the autumn was magical like this about three years ago. More often it is "green, green then suddenly naked" kind of transition…but every now and then we are being spoilt by the "real thing", true autumn pallet.

Last week I was driving to work through the golden pathway…I must admit the gold of leaves here are slightly different from the American golds. There the brightness of the color was blinding, like the light of sun that filtered through the trees and get captured by their branches and reflected…Here the golden colour of the trees remind unruly hair of an irish girl – more to the red-brown hue then to the bright sunny yellow. Yet each has its own enigmatic appeal…

I was going to write about British Fall last week, when she was at her best, but the business of everyday’s did not allow time for sentiment…Today it is already almost over…one single breath of northern wind and suddenly the trees left bare naked and the leaves still glowing in colourful tinge lie underneath of the nudes like a dropped off dresses…

We still managed to capture the best of the show– last weekend we’ve been to University Arboretum. It was like walking through the gigantic masterpiece of a crazy artist, who went above all sensible limits and just scattered his paints all over the canvass in a multitude of blotches of different colors… over-rich is the nearest word I could find to say about the pallet of Insane Fall…

just few samples of colors we've come across walking in Arboretum

It was an unusual treat for me – to get my favourite season twice! Considering just how much I love the Fall, my luck this year feels slightly frightening – how can one get so much of their dreams come true?! Perhaps, I will wake up next moment and discover that none of this had ever happened…
