Dear Diary,LOTS of stuff has happened since my last entry over a month ago... which was just a survey if memory serves me correctly. Here is a non-exhaustive list of some of the noteworthy things I'll be expounding on in the near future:
FINALLY, and I can't emphasize that enough... FINALLY met Heather (yes, the very same Heather whom I wrote thousands of words about on November 5th, 2004). Our first meeting occured on August 26th, and we have since hung out again last Friday (September 15th). It's been an amazing and surreal experience getting to know her in person, and might just be the highlight of my year so far in 2006 - having been in the works for six years, with her only a 1h30 drive away for most of it. I could devote an entire entry to this development, and I just might. Stay tuned!
Got a continued clean bill of health from my hematologist on September 5th... my bloodwork is just as clean as a normal person's, and with the addition of physiotherapy and massage therapy to my regiment for better health... I think I'm closer to 100% than ever before - which feels great!
My sister was home in late July through early August with my niece, Hannah Elizabeth. She's a real cutie and the crying poop machine managed to steal a piece of my heart. Seeing her smile and feeling her tiny hand grab my finger... it was something that nobody could prepare me for, and glad they didn't. It was an incredible experience, and I'm looking forward to her being home again for Christmas.
I went to South Dakota in the first week of July. I finally got to meet my South Dakota girls as I stayed there for 8 days. Although the trip was largely uneventful in terms of activities, it was great to just hang out and get to know better the people with whom I've spoken and grown to love over the past 10 years. Making people who have a large impact on my life become real has been extremely worthwhile - I can't believe I didn't commit to it sooner. First my three South Dakota chix... then Heather. Only one left of any consequence...
... which would be Amanda. Yes, THAT Amanda. It doesn't matter where I am in life or what I'm doing... what I'm thinking or how I'm feeling - Amanda always comes back to my thoughts. I've realized that this is hardly a bad thing, and have been rekindling the close friendship she and I once had. Whatever more (or less) may come of it... we'll have to wait and see. For now we're learning to be more honest and open with one another, something we've lacked over the past 5 years of knowing one another. She is scheduled to arrive in Halifax sometime next month, which I'm greatly looking forward to. Again, there is no telling what might happen... but I will know sooner than later, the person to whom I am continually drawn towards... she will be real. I doubt anything bad will come of it, but also unsure if she'd allow anything great to stem from it either. It's been tumultuos this way at the best of times the past 3 years or so... it will all come to a head sooner than later. There is more to this than meets the eye (or that I care to explain at the moment)... but there are things beyond our control that might play a larger factor than the wants & wills of us both. Stay tuned for news on THIS as well!
Annnnnnnnnnd then comes the job front. I have an interview next Thursday for a marketing/writing position with a start-up IT company... and should be hearing any day about word on a "dream job" of sorts for me - a sports writing position at an incredibly cool company for which some of my friends have already worked. This would be the absolute ideal... and I was able to apply through a pretty awesome connection - meaning this could very well be my best shot at living out my dream... for now at least. Since news about the jobfront will likely have developments before anything else, don't be surprised if the first full entry is about this exciting topic. This does NOT mean in any way that it's most important... but it's at the very least interesting and has a dramatic impact on my life as I'm extremely unhappy with my job at G&T. Cross your fingers for me, wouldja?
Oh... and I almost forgot... there's the new apartment which ABSOLUTELY ROCKS! Matt, Adam, Darcey (the new roomie, former roommate of Sarah), and I have been having a great time at the new digs. It's a huge upgrade from the last place, and the dynamic between us seems even better with the new addition. Of course, there'll be more on this later, too.
And speaking of Sarah, that's even more news. This dear friend of mine recently came very close to losing her life. After being in the hospital over 3 weeks, and giving us all a scare, she was able to come over Sunday night for some WWE action with the old crew (Matt, Lance, Sarah, Darcey, and I)... it was absolutely fannnnnnnntastic. Good to see her doing much better, which is hopefully a sign that she will get back to as close to 100% as humanly possible. If anyone can do it, Bee can! :o) What a trooper.
This trooper has to get his butt to bed. As I said, stayed tuned for some real entries... I've been itching to do some serious writing for awhile now. Don't be surprised if it all explodes REAL soon. Also don't be surprised to see me close down this site and open up a new one - don't worry, I'll be e-mailing the address of the new one to those who I actually care about reading it. That's been in the back of my mind for awhile now... perhaps it will become realized sooner than later.
Food for thought... at least I won't have to go to bed hungry.
Bye for now,
- Ryan J.
