1) How old do wish you were? I wish I were 20/21 again... so that I could relive what has been, by far, the most eventful and exciting year of my life. I found a love for marketing in University, and distances myself a bit from accounting... had myself a gorgeous girlfriend whom I loved dear... was playing intramural basketball at Dal with good friends... attended Wrestlemania 18 with my good buddy Lance - the highlight of my life thus far... had an awesome first work-term at the Dal Print Centre and had some money of my own for the first time... attending (and took part in) my sister's wedding, when all of the family was getting along, and the Joudreys had all flown down from Ontario - probably highlight #2 of my life... attended summer courses and was able to enjoy my first summer in Halifax, and go out in the nice weather lots... got a fairly presigious work placement at the Greater Halifax Partnership doing PR... attended a WWE Live event in Halifax, and got 2nd row!... and got to see George Carlin perform live at the Metro Centre. I would also have liked to gone back to this time period because I would have gone to the doctor the day after seeing Carlin... saving my spleen and making things much easier on myself. 2) Where were you when 9/11 happened? I was in class... Busines Law if I'm not mistaken. We had no idea anything was going on. I walked back to my apartment to a ringing phone, and it was my friend Ben who'd been trying to get ahold of me. He told me to turn on my TV, because something horrible was happening. Having the sarcastic relationship that we did, I didn't believe him... but once I turned on my TV and began to grasp what was happening... (the second building had just been crashed into), I ran across the street to Ben's place and watched it with the crowd of people who were in his room. It was incredibly surreal, frightening, and sad. Not realizing at that time all of the police and firefighters who would be pronounced dead afterward, it was still unbelievable sad to see people jumping out of the windows and hearing all of the screams.... not to mention the collapse of the towers. Something I'll never forget.
3) What do you do when vending machines steal your money? I so very seldom ever use vending machines that I honestly cannot remember the last time this has happened. I would guess that I'd hit/shake the machine, pointlessly press the coin-return button... and if nothing happened, just walk away. I would take it as a further lesson not to waste my money on vending machines.
4) Do you consider yourself kind? In a way, I definitely am, because I get taken advantage of too often for this or that... but in another way, not kind enough, because I have problems trying to genuinely muster up empathy and sympathy. I can be a bit too cold in that regard, but generally, it serves me well. I guess it's hard to find the right balance of kind overall - such a double-edged sword.
5) If you would get a tattoo, what part of your body would you get it on? I will likely NEVER get a tattoo... but in this silly hypothetical, I would have to say that I would get it on my right arm in the classic spot to the side, just below the shoulder.
6) Peanuts, popcorn or Cracker Jacks? Y'know, I'm really not a fan of any of these, but some ultra-buttery popcorn is good every so often.
7) If you could be fluent in any other language what would it be? I would have to go with Chinese, because sooner than later, these people are going to rule the world! Okay, maybe not sooner than later... but eventually. Who is more industrious and committed than China? Oh, and let's not forget that there's over 1 BILLION of them... as in 1/6 of the world's population. Yikes.
8) Do you know your neighbours? At my current place, I do... because a guy in the building adjacent to me is my friend of 7 years - Lance... and attached to the same building as me lives his girlfriend, Caley. So I know them, and their respective roommates.
9) What do you consider a good vacation? It has to be at least a week. First of all, it has to be the absence of a full work week. Otherwise, it really doesn't matter. My vacation to South Dakota was one of the most relaxing experiences of my life, as I was able to get away from it all for the first time, and really enjoyed it. On the flip side of that, family vacations are some of my favourite memories. I guess as long as you're able to get your mind completely off of work and enjoy the time you have off - either in a specific location or with great people - it's all gravy.
10) Do you follow your horoscope? The astrological description of my sign (Taurus) is extremely close to describing my personality exactly... so I take what my horoscope says a little seriously from time to time - but otherwise I treat it as the hogwash it likely is. I will say, however, that I follow astrology with more seriousness and respect than I give to organized religion... but that's just common sense. I can actually SEE the stars. :oP
11) Would you move for the person you loved? It might depend on why they were moving (but probably not), but yes, I would move for someone I loved.
12) Are you touchy feely? Almost never. My instinct is not to touch or be touched... and being touched by someone who isn't a loved on really freaks me out for a few seconds. I grew up in a household where I didn't see my Mom & Dad hug, let alone kiss... I guess I just figure there's a time and place for everything, and that intimacy should be saved for close relationships. When I do have feeling for someone, though... I can be very touchy-feely... it depends on their personality, too... but cuddling is great, as can be holding hands, kissing, the whole she-bang.
13) Do you believe that opposites attract? For sure. There's a certain intrigue to the unknown that entices some people. I think it might wind up being the least-long-lasting of attractions, but I think it definitely exists. Perhaps this is why so many nice, smart girls are attracted to dumb jerks. Hell, there has to be SOME rhyme or reason to that, right?
14) Favorite channel? As much as I dislike their movie-censoring ways... I would have to say TBS. They show Friends, Seinfeld, and Everybody Loves Raymond all the time - so it's usually the channel I have on in the background, and would certainly be the channel I would watch most often if I were bored & sick at home on a weekday.
16) Favorite place to go on weekends? Recently, I've been going home to the folks' place in Maitland quite a bit. To me, it's like a weekend getaway (an hour's drive) from Halifax to the ultimate bed & breakfast. My favourite person in the world (Dad) is there, and I can pretty much do whatever I want. There's really no place like home!
17) Showers or Baths? Showers. This has been the case since my very first shower, but now with my recent bad experiences/associations with baths... I haven't had one in over year. This will likely change in the new apartment since we'll have a jacuzzi... but otherwise, not a fan of sitting in my own filth.
18) Do you paint your nails? No. The only time that ever happened was when my parents were trying to get me to stop chewing my nails & bought that stuff that tastes absolutely horrible. It worked to the extent that I won't bite them 'till they bleed, but I have never stopped altogether.
19) Do you trust people easily? There are different levels of trust. They're aren't a whole lot of people I trust with my life... but in terms of general trust, I usually start out trusting people to a certain extent, then it builds over time & changes based on experiences with them. Once lost, though... it's nearly impossible to regain.
20) What are your phobias? Sharks... heights (well, falling from them)... cancer relapse... dying alone... I think it'd be too long of a list if I really sat and thought about it. I don't, however, have many that affect my everyday life - which is probably the most important.
21) Do you want kids? Definitely. I would love to have 2 or 3 kids of my own as part of a happy & secure family unit. Throw a loving/adoring wife in there, and I couldn't ask for anything more.
22) Do you keep a handwritten journal? No, but I keep one online that sometimes gets me into trouble. Perhaps hand-writing it would be wiser... or maybe I just shouldn't let everyone read it. You'd think people would learn to take things with a grain of salt, but oh well.
23) Where would you rather be right now? In bed... contemplating getting up for the day, or whether to sleep until the Price is Right comes on.
24) Who makes you feel guilty? Mom... she's big on the guilt-trips. My sister has learned a few things from her in that respect, but doesn't come close to our Mom's "skills". Otherwise, I lead a good & honest enough of a life that I'm not made to feel guilty about a whole lot - which I love.
25) Heavy or light sleeper? Usually pretty heavy, I think... but sometimes the weirdest/slightest things will wake me up. I think it all depends on how tired I was when I went to bed, or how long I've already been sleeping.
26) Are you paranoid? About certain things, definitely... I'm never sure of people's motives or what they might be saying/thinking that I don't know about. I'm not afraid that someone's out to get me or anything of the like... but I do have some insecurities that lend themselves well to paranoia.
27) Are you patient? Over the past 3.5 years, I've developed the overall patience of a Saint. There are times, though, when my patience wears thin too quickly... which would likely involve situations where I've put up with enough waiting already in times past... or when I'm being delayed by someone's stupidity... but generally, I know there are worse things than waiting, and I don't mind it nearly as much as I used to.
28) Who can you relate to? I can relate to pretty much anyone. I'm pretty mature for my age (or anyone's age at that)... and have been through enough that I can appreciate when people have hit rock bottom or are going through hardships. I'm also a fairly knowledgeable person overall, so it's not hard for me to imagine something I might not have experienced. I may not exactly like what drives most people in their lives, especially those who do very questionable things... but I can usually undertand it.
29) How do you feel about interracial couples? Skin colour doesn't (or at least shouldn't) mean anything anymore. I mean, it still catches my attention from time to time, but I really couldn't care less. To me, they're just people trying to be happy, and best of luck to them!
30) Have you been burned by love? A time or two, yes.
31) WHAT'S YOUR MAIN RINGTONE ON YOUR PHONE? Waltz of the Wallflowers... though I think I might break down and actually buy one - the Inspector Gadget theme!
32) WHAT WERE YOU DOING AT MIDNIGHT LAST NIGHT? I was thinking about the wonderful evening I'd had... but then also about my friend Sarah who is in the hospital, and took a turn for the worse earlier in the day. She now needs surgery, which can (and hopefully will) make a significant improvement.
33) WHAT DID THE LAST TEXT MESSAGE ON YOUR CELL PHONE SAY? I'm not sure... I get lots of junk ones about entertainment newsletters. I just delete them as soon as I see this number that isn't seven digits long.
34) WHOS BED DID YOU SLEEP IN LAST NIGHT? My own.
35) WHAT COLOR SHIRT ARE YOU WEARING? It's mainly a red shirt, but has a semi-plaid design (blue trips with light trim).
36) MOST RECENT MOVIE THAT YOU WATCHED? "You, Me, and Dupree". It was alright... mostly just Owen Wilson reprising his role of the past 5 years.
37) NAME 3 THINGS THAT YOU HAVE TO HAVE AT ALL TIMES? I'm not sure if 100% HAVE to have them, but three things I always have on me are my wallet, cell phone, and keys.
38) WHAT COLOR ARE YOUR BED SHEETS? My one set of sheets is beige, and the other set of sheets is blue. Not very exciting, I know... but hey, they work.
39) HOW MUCH CASH DO YOU HAVE ON YOU RIGHT NOW? I have $0.00 cash on me at the moment, which is unusual because I normally have a $20 bill just in case. I'll take this as my reminder to go to the bank to get one.
40) What is your favorite part of the chicken? I love the Half Chicken Dinner at Swiss Chalet... but I will have to be pretty boring and say that I like the breast best. And that doesn't go just for chickens, either!
41) What's your favorite town/city? I will always be partial to my hometown of Maitland... but I'm not sure I could live there - visiting is great, though. Halifax is a very nice city, and it doesn't leave me wanting anything more. We'll see what the future holds, but I'll likely be here for awhile at least.
42) When are you going on vacation? I took my summer vacation already... July 1st through 9th... it was great. The next vacation I have coming up (planned & approved) is for Christmas... and that's December 27th, 28th, 29th... which gives me 10 straight days off because of the way Christmas & New Year's fall (both on Mondays)... which means I'll have December 23rd through January 1st OFF for the price of just 3 days.
43) When was the last time you saw your mom? I saw her just this past weekend... and since it was a long weekend, I saw her on Monday, too. I usually go home every 2 or 3 weeks, so not a lot of time passes between times that I see her.
44) When was the last time you saw your dad? Same situation as my Mom, although Dad will come into Halifax once or twice a month and take me to lunch. Man, I love that guy.
45) When was the last time you talked to them? I talked to Mom Tuesday night, and last talked to Dad on Sunday night... he left for Newfoundland early Monday morning, and I wasn't awake at the time.
46) Who got you to join MSN? I would have to say Amanda. There were a couple of my friends who told me to switch from ICQ to MSN... but when I saw how much easier/better it was during one of my many long talks with her, I decided to switch completely.
47) What's something you have learned recently? I've learned that sucking it up and making the hard decisions ASAP when you realize they need to be made is better (and ultimately easier) than letting them drag out. They will not resolve themselves unless you address them.
50) What did you have for dinner LAST NIGHT? Last night I had Spicy Pork, Mango Chicken, and Janobi Rice (or something like that). It was most excellent.
