29 Dec 2005 - Out with the old ! 7-40pm . Sitting here in my jammies and warm dressing gown ...just had a hot shower and will be heading for an early night soon . Peter has already gone up ..he is croaky and coughing lots with the bug he caught from me . He feels tired, so I said .."why not just go to bed and sleep ". He is adamant he will go into work again tomorrow , he is such a martyr ! I told him he should go off sick ..but oh no ..he never will ! He only has tomorrow to work and then has Fri through Monday off . Short week thankfully . I want him to be better before the next round of parties starts up . We go to Christines party on the 30th then to a dance on New Years Eve with Diane and Lionel and Bart and Michele . Then Jim and Sheena are having a "Hair of the Dog " party on New Years day ..so he better be fit by then . I bought a new evening gown for New Years Eve and cant wait to wear it . Its long, black ,low cut and slinky ..woo hoo . It was 70% off in the sales on Boxing day and I fell in love with it on sight . Fits perfectly too . I am slowly starting to feel more human . Still have an annoying cough but my energy levels are almost back to full par . Glugging away on the cough medicine and that keeps the coughing fits in check . That was quite a nasty week ...my Christmas was pretty much ruined by this cold and chest infection . Barb came to pick up all the clothes I had waiting for her today . I ended up with no less than 11 black bags stuffed full with all sorts of good things for her. All the clothes I have shrunk out of as I lost weight . They had built up in the basement and even I was surprised just how much was there . It felt good to be able to pass them on and Barb was pleased . What she cant use she will pass on to some one who will ...so its all good . Peter is pleased with all the space in the basement storage area now too . You know decluttering is DEFINITELY good for the soul ! I feel great letting all my one time favourites go to a new home . They dont fit me now any way .. its time to move on ...maybe even to go ...... "S H O P P I N G ' Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhh ! Yes I like that idea... so its out with the old and on with the new ... clothes that is ! lol Barb brought me a big bowl of Hyacinths ..they are one of my favourites ..the scent of Hyacinths is so wonderfully fragrant . They were always a favourite of my mums .These are still in bud and I will so enjoy their flowering . Barb looked great for having lost 65 pounds .. she is a very sweet person and she very kindly wrote Charles a cheque for $100 for Ecuador . He was so thrilled . Barb reads my diary here and said it was nice to be able to see me in my home as she only knew it from my diary entries before . Kinda spooky ..to know it really does exist in reality . Got a nice e mail from Mollycoddle today . My god daughter takes her 11 plus exams in January . I will send her a nice gift if she passes them . I know she will ..she is bright and clever and very talented ..like her mum ! Also got a nice e mail from Sash and a call from my sis. My dad went home from hers today so she was feeling worn out after all the festivities and cooking etc . She really shouldnt have over done things ..but I knew all along she would . I was a bit miffed that my dad let her though. I will call him tomorrow to make sure he got home safely . James is coming for supper tomorrow ..he and Jess are having relationship problems right now . Things blew up between them over Christmas and he was ready to finish with her . They are limping along for now but my gut feeling is they wont last long . She may not be the girl for him after all . I think he needs to move on personally . I like Jess but she isnt making my stepson happy and thats not good at all in my book . Its raining hard ...that horrible freezing rain ..the very worst kind of weather in my opinion . The forcast is to go even colder ..to minus 20 degrees over New Year weekend . Muffy is settling in well . She comes and lies on my lap for a cuddle . She is a good old dog and no trouble to look after at all . Very sweet natured . Poppy is jealous though I think . She has been very naughty today ..she peed on the sofa and ripped up a box of tissues leaving mess everywhere . She is getting her own back for us taking in Muffy .Naughty girl ! She doesnt realise that Muffy is only staying for a couple of weeks while her owners are on a cruise . Another day off tomorrow ..hurray ! Am so happy to be on my Hols ! We get the new mattress delivered tomorrow too . Yeah ..life is good . 29 Dec 2005 - Blahhh ! 7-11pm . Had a quiet day at home ..no housework to speak of ..just rested and read and waited for the new mattress to be delivered . It came around 3pm ..it was so huge that they really struggled to get it up the stairs and along the landing to our bedroom . I had to take all the pictures down enroute and clear every thing out of the way . The delivery guy told me this is the biggest thickest matress that Sealy make ..what a whopper ! It was so high on the bed I could hardly climb on ...I literally would have needed a step beside the bed to get up on ...so Peter has dropped the box spring to the floor to make it a more manageable height . Thats way better now ..and we are looking forwards to sleeping on it for the first time tonight . It is soooooooo soft and yet supports every joint and bit of your body . Charles had a lazy day too ..goodness his bedroom is a tip . I hate going in there ..its like a trip in to the jungle . He stacks empty plates and glasses along side both his clean and dirty clothes ..stuff everywhere ..mess.. mess... mess . Boy it just drives me mad . I nagged him to clean up and he eventually spent 5 minutes doing a bare bones tidy up before he headed out to work at 5pm . He goes mad if I go in and clean up ..its his "private space " and he tells me off for invading it . Peter came home really tired again ..the cold is still draining him . He is watching TV right now but will have another early night no doubt . We have a busy schedule tomorrow and a party in the evening at my friends house . He is off till next Monday now so I am looking forwards to some holiday fun . Hoping to get to the new movie theatre that has opened here in town at some point . Plus I have my gift certificates to go spend that I got as gifts . I have one for Old Navy and the big one for Winners . I got Annes Christmas card today ...she wrote me a sweet note in it ..it filled the last space on the last string . We now have cards right through the whole of the main floor ..through 4 big rooms and the hall way . Feeling a bit Blahh ...not really tired.. not really bored ..just blahh ! I havent been out of the house today may be the reason . The freezing rain has left a coating of ice on the roads and sidewalks ..lethal for cars and pedestrians . No way was I stepping foot out side in THAT! I chatted to my dad for an hour ..he was home safe and had lots to tell me about all the stuff he did at my sisters over Christmas . The dogs are barking like crazy ...looks like some one is at the front door . it will be nice if its visitors ..they can cheer my mood up a bit . Hugs and kisses to all . See you here tomorrow .
