Wow that was a sucessful party yesterday here . So many of you dropped in and left festive and fun messages ...so it was well worth all the work .I was amazed at how everyone joined in the spirit of it ..so many old and new pals ..and of course even Santa turned up . He and MissTick got on extremely well on the dance floor and were even glimpsed kissing under the mistletoe at one point .
Sadly,Santa imbibed rather too freely and was last seen snoring beside a disgruntled looking Rudolph in the sleigh.
Hey ho ...I am sure they made it home to the North Pole ..if a little erratically .
I must thank my dear friend Calantha here again for putting the page together so brilliantly and also for posting my party pic . Thanks so much buddy ..you were the genius behind the scenes . xxxx
I wonder if I actually look as you imagined guys ?...we all have an image of each other in our minds eye don't we . I have a feeling that those of you who have got to know me well will be glad to be able (at long last) put a face to my name . I had my best party togs on note..that pic was taken a week or so ago , on the evening of the works xmas dinner dance .
I have had a productive day today, having FINALLY taken the plunge and booked our holiday to Cuba in the New Year .
So now we can begin to anticipate the fun and freedom of a holiday on the beach at
an all inclusive 4 star resort . YEAHHHHHH !
It took me hours of searching all the different hotels and packages in the different ares of Cuba before settling on this final favourite . It looks wonderful and the reviews are good plus I found some web pages full of pics from other people who have stayed there . Its in Holguin on Guadalacava beach.
Its slap bang on a magnificent beach of powder white sand with shade trees behind and palapas (sun umbrellas) It will be hot and Jan is the dry season there... shade was a must
The hotel has 4 different pools and no less than 8 restaurants to choose from and 11 bars ..it is actually a complex comprising 2 Hotels ,bungalows and villas ..we are booked into the beach front bungalows and will have a patio for our private use,plus the bungalows have their own buffet and speciality restaurants ..plus 2 pools .
We can use any of the other facilities including all the bars and restaurants in the other parts of the complex .
I particularly chose it for all the water activities offered and am looking forwards to snorkling the coral reef just off the pristine beach ...the water is safe for swimming ...kind of a lagoon . The beach has 3 areas including a long stretch good for walking and horse back riding .
I cant wait ....sigh .
The tickets should arrive within a week and we go in two. Roll on I say !
Cuba seems very well priced and everyone who we have spoken to that has been there loved it . It will be mainly British and Canadian tourists as due to the trade embargo USA citizens are barred from the island . A pity really . I am sure many will have opinions on same but as I never get into politics in my diary will leave the subject there .
Charles is working at Mr Sub tonight . He has spent the day with his friends and enjoyed relaxing with them . Tomorrow he is working at the organic butcher's shop here in town (and for the next 3 )days helping with the fresh turkey deliveries ...more spending money for him and well done Charles ! He has an excellent work ethic I am pleased to say .
I didnt sleep well yet again last night ....its getting so bad that I asked the Dr for something to help me sleep . I picked up the prescription today and will keep it handy by the bed .
I get off OK but then lie wakeful after just a couple of hours sleep .I am starting to see dark rings under my eyes and today have not had much energy at all . I am sure its hormonal changes beginning and maybe a little bit of worry too ..sigh !
Peter is on his way home ..he just called . I better get supper on ..just something light tonight . We had Simon and James over for a big roast rib of beef Sunday lunch yesterday ..the table was groaning with all the trimmings plus desserts . It was mainly to celebrate James recent promotion . We certainly did a good job . A very pleasant meal and evening together everyone was in good form and complimented the food greatly .
My dad travels down to Tina's by train tomorrow for the Christmas holidays .
He was very bright and cheerful when I called him earlier . This is good .
She has a whole slew of invites for them to parties plus a carol service , various outings and lunch dates etc . My dad will enjoy spending time with his 2 oldest grandsons and my sister will look after him wonderfully . She is just over a very bad bout of bronchitis so I hope she doesnt overdo things and tire her self out.
Its bitter cold here today ..minus 15 degrees c . So cold it freezes the hair in your nostrils if you breathe in deeply .

Well just time for a quick visit to some diaries now ....then definitely an early night is in order .
