27 Sep 2008 - PAUL NEWMAN DEAD AT 83
One of my favorite actors, Paul Newman
has died from cancer at the age of 83.

Back soon to trash the debate and laugh
at "The Annointed One"

Got to make coffee first. Richard

27 Sep 2008 - THE AFTER-GLOW OF DEBATE
Good Lord I can't believe I looked forward to the
lame ass debate I watched on tv last night.

It started out boring and never really picked up.
If anyone thinks that Mccain or Obama clearly
won this debate they must have fell assleep half
way through it which, by the way, would have been
damn easy to do.

Obama looked like a rank amature with that stupid
smile that he always does when he isn't sure what
the hell is going on around him. Mccain had the
edge in the second half showing just how little
Obama knows about the rest of the world.

Mccain really got to the nerve of Obama which I
thought was entertaining. Obama clearly does
not have the knowledge or skills to lead our
nation on the world stage.

I do feel that Mccain needs to get more animated
and lively, but then again I always tend to compare
all of these people to President Bill Clinton and
lets face facts, no one can out perform the master
orator Bill Clinton.

In the end nothing has changed. Obama is not
convincing as a leader or statesman and I will take
experience and wisdom over a 21st century token of
political correctness any day as I have no desire
to stop eating pork and have sand in my ass crack,
unless of course I have been sexing it up on the
beach.

The primary debates were a hell of a lot better if
you ask me.

More later, Richard

27 Sep 2008 - ANOTHER BANK IN DANGER
Wachovia Corp. has entered into preliminary talks with a handful of possible buyers people familiar with the company told the Wall Street Journal.

The company is the latest in a parade of banks to look for safety in the arms of a suitor amid concerns that the weak economy is pushing them deeper into peril. Washington Mutual Inc.'s late-Thursday failure rattled the shares of other troubled banks, and shares in Wachovia fell 27 percent on Friday as investors fretted about its massive mortgage portfolio.

Investors are growing concerned that a host of banks nationwide, both large and small, could come under fresh pressure to either raise more capital or else find someone willing to buy them.

Wachovia is talking to potential buyers including Wells Fargo & Co., Banco Santander of Spain and Citigroup, people familiar with the situation told the Wall Street Journal. Wachovia officials don't believe they need to rush into a deal, and the bank isn't feeling immediate pressure on its financial condition, people familiar with the company said.

Wachovia declined to comment on the discussions. Earlier Friday, a spokeswoman said the bank is "aggressively addressing our challenges." Since June, Wachovia has opened 745,000 new checking accounts, she added, indicating confidence among its customers.

Banco Santander, Citigroup and Wells Fargo declined to comment.

27 Sep 2008 - Detroit Must Be A Crazy Place
Detroit Police Sergeant Accused of Having His Wife Murdered
Found Hanging in Park:

A Detroit police sergeant whose wife was shot to death in a
suspected contract killing has been found hanged in a suburban park.

Police tell the Detroit Free Press that 38-year-old Sgt. David
Cobb was found dead Friday night in Sterling Heights, a city 15
miles north of downtown Detroit.

Cobb's 47-year-old wife, Rose, was fatally shot Dec. 26 in a parking
lot on Detroit's east side. In April, police arrested 27-year-old
Vincent Smothers, who told police Cobb hired him to kill his wife.

Smothers claimed Cobb was having an affair and wanted his wife's
life insurance money. He is awaiting trial for murder.

Cobb was arrested a day after Smothers. He was released after
prosecutors said there wasn't enough evidence to charge him.
