Tidbits gleaned from MJ's Idol Blog:Kris, Adam, Danny, and Allison are apparently all going to get recording contracts. I know I'm there for Adam and Allison.
When interviewed by Fox News this morning and asked if he might sing with Queen again, since their lead singer recently left, Adam pleaded the 5th. Hmmm. Methinks that if he'd won last night, that wouldn't even be an option. But right now, he wants to focus on his own music.
The voting results apparently weren't even close. Kris beat Adam quite handily. BUT...of those 100 million votes cast, AT&T confirmed that nearly 38 million came from Kris' home state of Arkansas. I'm not saying that Adam would have won without those votes being counted - we'll never know - but I suspect that the results would have been MUCH closer. Anyway, we'll see if the 2.8 million inhabitants of Arkansas buy 38 million of Kris' album.
And yeah, SWAM, the Idol judges - particularly Simon - made no secret of the fact that they believed Adam would win and wanted him to. In fact, the over-pimping of him from both the judges and the media, combined with the complete dismissal of Kris time after time, is probably one thing that hurt Adam in the end. People don't like being told who to vote for, and sometimes Idol watchers vote just to spite the judges.
Eh. I've been watching the interviews today, and Kris and Adam are still happy, so all's good.
Thanks for the kudos, Dreamerbooks. I'm not sure I would have continued to watch the show this season if it weren't for Adam. I'm certainly wondering if I should put the effort into it next year. Getting that hooked onto one contestant is exhausting!
Oh, partial transcript from Adam's press conference after the show:
Reporter: I want to just get this question out of the way first, something that’s been dangling a bit over you for the whole season: Would you like to put to rest all the speculation about your sexuality?
Adam: It’s not dangling over my head. [Laughing] It may be dangling over yours, but it’s not over mine. Yeah, I think speculation keeps things really interesting.
Reporter: So you don’t want to say anything one way or the other?
Adam: Like I said, I think speculation keeps things very, very interesting. [Laughs]
Oh, Adam. I'm chuckling at the "dangling" bit. You're too smooth for this show.
