Work is going well. I LOVE MY JOB!!! I hadn't even been there quite 2 weeks and I was already on the floor seeing patients by myself. It didn't take me very long to catch on to the way things are done around there.I haven't been around much since I started my new job only because when I get home from work the last thing I want to do is get on the computer because I'm so tired. I usually make dinner, eat, bathe the kids, get them into bed, take my shower, and go to bed myself. I didn't even go out Friday night because I was so tired and that is very unusual for me. I'm hoping I will get use to this schedule soon and I won't be so tired when I get home. I'm hoping my body gets use to being around sick kids too. I've been taking my multi-vitamin and extra vitamin C everyday but I don't think it's working because Friday I started to feel a little under the weather and I'm still feeling that way. Just congestion and that phlegm that sticks in the back of the throat. I know gross but that is the only way I can describe it. Plus I have a little bit of a cough. There have been a lot of kids coming in with strep throat so hopefully I won't come down with that again. My manager said that it's not uncommon for someone who first starts working there to get sick a lot the first few months they are there but then they build up an immune to it and they are hardly ever sick again. I guess we will see.
I wish though that I could have started this job after school let out. Towards the end of the school year is usually pretty busy for me when it comes to appointments. Mason was suppose to have an eye appointment this month but I haven't gotten around to making the appointment yet. His doctor is so busy that I know I he won't get in this month to see him so it will have to hopefully be next month. Also parent/teacher conferences are next month and Michael's IEP (individualized education plan) is coming up in April and Mason's is next month and I thought his was suppose to be in May. I guess I was wrong because the they called Mike at work Wednesday and told him that our appointment was March 4th and they had to have it done by March 9th. So I had to take the afternoon of March 4th off from work so I can go to Mason's IEP and see if he is still going to need speech therapy in school next year. I also had to take March 26th off for parent/teacher conferences. I was able to take to both Michael and Mason's teachers and they were able to give me a day ahead of time. Normally they don't let you know until about 2 weeks before they day.
Speaking of kids both kids seem to be doing well still. Mason had a very good week this week at school. We are hoping that continues. He's a super smart kid he just won't apply himself sometimes and that gets him into trouble. I honestly think he may have a little ADD and he's suppose to see his pediatrician in May and I'm going to talk to her again about it. This time I'm going to bring Mike with me so he can tell her the things he has been noticing so maybe we can get him under control.
Michael saw the orthopedic specialist for his 6 month f/u last week and it looks like Michael will probably be having surgery this summer. Michael physical therapist got his doctor's report and she thinks that we should go ahead with the surgery according to my mom. I'm going to have to call her this week and talk to her and find out for sure what she thinks. I will then have to call Michael's doctor and see when we need to come back in and see him about the surgery. He's planning on cutting this long tendon that goes from the foot to the leg to get his feet to turn out then he is going to cut his shin bones and put plates in to turn his shin bones out. He'll have to have surgery again after about 8 months I think is what the doctor said to have the plates removed but that surgery won't be as bad as the first one. This will hopefully help Michael walk better. Michael also has his annual check-up coming up in April but that won't be so bad. In and out pretty much. Michael still has occupational therapy and speech but Mike now has to take him to those appointments since I'm working. Now he's seeing what a typical day for me was like when I wasn't working. I don't think he takes me for granted anymore. LOL.....
