Well being that I have not been here in a while, I should update you on what I have been doing. Though it might be pretty boring to say the least. I will try to keep you entertained.
First off, this is my first summer in the state of Pennsylvania, which I might add is lovely. I totally expected this summer to be miserable, hot, and humid. It has not been so. Amazingly, this summer has been nice, cool and breezy. A bit of some humidity here and there, but relatively mild, and although we have had some really nice warm days in the 70's and 80's, it has not gotten to the point where I am sitting around the house in a bra and boxer shorts in front of the fan, unable to do anything but drink Ice tea. No, that only happened to me in Washington state. LOL.
The weather has been great, although I would bet that a lot of the Western PA folks would say this summer has been too cold. It has rained, and there have been many nice thunderstorms ( did I mention I love thunderstorms? ) and the lightning has been shocking ( pun intended, yeah, so I am cheesy ) Ok, but no, it has been really a very cool experience. I love the rain, and I love thunder, and although it is quite different from what I am used to in California, it has been enjoyable, at least to me.
My girls flew to see their father for the summer, in Utah, and they're having fun over there. Dan and I have driven down to North Carolina to pick up his kids for part of the summer, and they are now back home again in NC with their mom. So, Dan and I have been alone for the last couple of weeks, and boy it's quiet here.
I've noticed that the crickets chirp all day here, and so do the toads and frogs, so when the sun rises you rise to the sounds of bugs, birds, and frogs. They don't ease up, they're very happy singing all day long, and by the way the sounds of the birds here are so wonderful. I really really love it.
You see, I am from California, where I lived all of my life until I was 30, and I adore California, and I never wanted to leave, but for a time I left and moved to Washington state, which by all rights is a lovely state, if you like a lot of rain, pine trees and crowds. It's very crowded there in the cities, and the freeways are always bustling with people as well. There's rarely a blue sky with white billowy clouds, but when those days come... it's guaranteed that you'll also enjoy some of the hottest weather anywhere. I don't care what people say... Washingtonians have a secret... it's their summers, they are hot hot hot and humiddddddddddddddddddddd. They tell the rest of the world they're rainy all year just to keep the tourists away. LOL
The birds, and such in Washington state are really not that different than in California... Life there is different, but not so different. People there seem to hate Californian's somewhat, but amazingly almost everyone I met there was from California, and people joke that California took over that state, and it's the 2nd California. I'm not surprised people from California would go there, it's cheaper to live there, and the pay is the same.
Now... as for PA, I have not been to Philly yet, but I have been to Pittsburgh, and I live close to Pittsburgh ( within an hours drive ) but also I live far enough away that I am actually never going to Pittsburgh for anything. I can't say I have seen the "ugly" side of PA if there is one, so any of you from PA who think I am nuts because I say it's so beautiful here must live somewhere other than the Allegheny plateau. I live on the Plateau.
Well.. so I enjoy it here, and am looking forward to seeing how warm it gets this month. I sure hope it gets nice. Our garden is growing, we have planted Potatoes, Carrots, Squash, Cabbage, Peppers ( red and green ) Cantalopes, Cucumbers and this year skipped tomatoes, but we will do those next year...
Oh... did anyone hear the Cicadas? Is that how you spell them? Those interestingly big bugs that come out once every 17 yrs? They were all over here and wow, do they ever make a ton of noise!
That's all for now.
