Emails, reportedly from us

I’ve, rather interestingly, been receiving emails to abuse@deardiary.net that claim to have come from support@deardiary.net! Which leads me to the conclusion that the latest wonder worms from the minds of those intellectually challenged enough to have to resort to write VB Script email worms, are now faking the sender’s details to be a random address from someone’s address book.

If you receive an email from a deardiary.net that you didn’t expect, and it contains an attachment, we recommend you put it in the bin and don’t open it.

Hopefully one day someone will come up with a useable standard for ensuring the validity of a sender – this latest batch of worms shows just how vulnerable the internet is and you should trust NOTHING from an internet source.

Again, update your antivirus software (http://www.grisoft.com/) and don’t open attachments unless you asked for someone to send them to you first!

Steve.
