The Promised Land

I wrote a song today, live on a streaming audio wiuth soe=me friends listening… i just kind of decided to write it and behold it was there…

The Promised Land

Sitting on the branch of an old worn tree
thinking about how and what it means to be free
Yesterday we never knew, what tomorrow would be
Climb further up, and thats when we can see

CHORUS
that when we each reach out
when we each give some hope
when we each take our places in the much bigger plan
even though sometimes we won’t understand
faith and trust will lead us to the promised land

Winds are blowing sweet and mild
looking down with the eyes of a child
thoughts are racing and running wild
to see from up here what g-d has styled

CHORUS
and when we each reach out
when we each give some hope
when we each seeour places in the much bigger plan
even though sometimes we won’t understand
our faith and trust will lead us to the promised land

BRIDGE
one day we’ll know
the reasons why
but for now, we’ll have to be content
that our faith and our trust is all that is meant

CHORUS (2x)
so when we each reach out
when we each give some hope
when we each take our places in the much bigger plan
even though sometimes we won’t understand
how our faith and trust will lead us to the promised land

and even though sometimes we won’t understand
our faith and trust will lead us to the promised land

Making it work

So, I called Dan and asked him about making time for a Passover Seder and he was more then happy to do that… In fact since we are travelling in the same car (doc will be going separately), Dan will be my guest at my seder.

I told him… ” you know, I might put out some… wierd stuff” ( the word seder means order, and there is a definate structure to a seder). I was wondering… what will he think when i pull out a plate and stick an egg, some parsley, chopped apple mush, horseradish, and a burnt bone on there…. and then start doing stuff like eating horseradish on matzoh, and dipping parsley in salt water, not to mention dipping my finger into a glass of wine and making a drop on my plate for each of the ten plagues….

he said ” you know… i like wierd stuff”

I probably spend more time with Doc and Dan then anyone else (thats what happens when you are in a band that plays 4-5 times a week… and somtimes twice or three times in a day on the weekends. I am very very lucky, because those guys are two of the most caring, sharing, talented, funny, and probably perverse people I know… but if i had to be in a band with two guys, I cant imagine any other guys i’d want to be with….

i used to hate violin, now i cant wait to play. I love singing, I love Fish fry bingo….

*thanks to all of you who have bumped us up on Fish Fry Bingo’s 61 page and My Solo Artist 61 page remember, just listening to the music on those pages helps us up on the charts… but I encourage you… or actually BEG you to please make the *fast free and easy* listener account and bump as many of our songs as possible. Also just by logging in each day you gain 20 points, so you can continue to bump our songs, even if you keep running out of points (you start off with 95 points I think). Bumping the songs with “fever” bumps will earn you more points in the long run, but will “cost” more points Initially.

My goal is to get “amazing grace” from My Solo Artist 61 page on the leader board… right now, if i could get a bunch of bumps on that…. it would help.

Fish Fry has had 2 songs on the leaderboard so far, but I have never made it on my own account… I have a bunch of bumps on amazing grace already, and it’s only 6 points to bump… so you could even bump something from Fish fry bingo also ( like wagon wheel….. perhaps? hint hint?)

anyhow, be good
It’s good to be writing in dear diary again….
(it’s good to be writing and happy at the same time… haha)

Tax Day

I really dont have to worry about my taxes. I did it last month. I really didnt have anything complicated to do. That isnt nessecarily a good thing… ya know.

This weekend my band is going on a mini tour of texas, we leave on friday for Bryan, and then saturday go to san marcos, where we are headlining a huge festival.

the down side…

this thing was scedulled LONG before i realized that saturday… is the first night of passover. I can’t bail on the band now, we’ve made the commitment months ago… I am just.. you know… really sad that I wont be able to go to a seder this year.

Maybe I can make my own…. in san marcos. you know… thats not impossible to do… i am going to call dan and find out if we can set aside time for that…

I will be very very grateful, if i am able to work that out.

as the person that the papers are calling “the matriarch of virtual judaesm”…. it would be kind of pathetic if i did not make an attempt, to do this.

thanks for the idea!

The Band – Help us!!!!

Ok so there is a website called thesixtyone.com, and there are 14 of our fish fry bingo songs uploaded…

If y’all could do me this reallllly huge favor I’d be grateful beyond words…

Create a listener account ( its fast free and easy – like the boys in my band)

search FishFryBingo (oneword) OR go to THIS page….
TheSixtyOne FishFryBingo page

play one of our songs, and then “bump” it ( youll see what i mean) it will prod you to make a listener account if you didn’t do that first. Different songs have been bumped different amounts of times… so just… bump what YOU like (the more bumps a song has the less points it ” costs” to bump it (you start off with a number of points… like i said.. the whole thing is free)

My favorites are Wagon Wheel, and Muhlenberg County(paradise) and Satisfied/blue moon (and YES thats me on fiddle, back up vocals and harmonica!!)

Doing this helps increase our rating and gets more people interested in our band… (and hopefully get noticed…)

after that…. go to THIS page (to hear me sing amazing grace to the tune of the house of the rising sun haha)
Beth’s solo page on thesixtyone

and if you can, bump that too. The point system is easy, and you’ll earn points as other people bump the songs after you… which will make you able to bump MORE songs…. hehe…

Thanks in advance….

barefoot

I went outside barefoot
a little while ago.

It rained last night so the ground was moist, squishy.

I felt the leaves, the ground, probably some things I really don’t care to know about… on the bottoms of my feet.

and it made me feel alive.

I opened the patio door
a little while ago

to let the world in

cause in like 3 hours i have to get my shit together and go teach violin lessons, and pick up my kids, and run errands and it’s gonna get HECTIC! so, I figured a little calm work to the tune of “outside noises- natural style” would be nice….

when did drilling become natural… hehe.
