So Last night I had some more “sukkah” events. I found some “official” information according to the halachic guidelines about sukkah, and made a notecard in the game . Then a few of us copied and pasted bits of this information into the chat box, while others eagerly listened as the discussion went on from… 8:30 – 12:00 central. The original event was posted at 8:30 for 1.5 hours and then at 10:30 I posted another one. Pepole came. People browse the events that are going on. I did not put “BIG JEW THING” there… i simply put “SUKKOT GATHERING” with a friendly description of “hanging out in the sukkah, an emphasis on sukkah discussions, traditions, meanings… etc” For a while, Zealous people have shown up at SLS (Second Life Synagogue) and wanted to know when there would be services, can we do a parsha study… can they teach a class… and my answer has been ” This is a new shul, I will not allow anything I can’t oversee, and I am not educated enough to take that kind of responsibility for what other people may teach ( unless i know them well and we have met about it) because ultimately the responsibility falls on me when it comes to what SLS will represent. With that in mind. I decided to try and organize a parsha discussion for Noah which comes at the end of October. Why NOAH? it is the parsha that is associated with my bat-mitzvah and i figure I can reasonably do resurch, bring back memories, talk about the parsha (throgh the words of many other people who will be credited) and probably give a translation of the haftorah, whish I absolutely love. With this idea in place, I know i have to meet with a few people to form the “education and resurch department” of SLS. I want to do it right… and since i am not ok with the idea of services, i do think it’s ok to have a parsha study during the week- especially if its well done. Maybe we can meet again after that and do another study…. who knows. Hashem will lead me to the right things to do. Last night, Glenn made SLS T shirts with a star of david on the front and SLS on the back. I think the back should say “SLS JEW CREW” but thats just me… haha. anyhow. The new dog came and he is cute as a button… and bigger thana breadbox. holy cccow tht is going tobe some dog… definately nothing like the dog from “rent” that angel kills by beating his drum until it dives of the 23rd story. I bet this dog would survive. He is sooooo cute. I had spent countless hours with christopher imagining ways to get rid of the previous dog… most of them had to do with throwing it in the pool. This one however… will be allowed to live… in our minds. We can do things i our minds that we can’t do in Reality… and in my mind the previous dog has had it’s head held underwater for months, but in reality it died… maybe 2 months ago. More to come.
