Anonymous Altruism

Sometimes
the world stops spinning
just for you.
You treasure the rare act
of kindness
at it’s most perfect moment
To give is a mitzvah
(good deed in jew talk)
I think think think
about yesterday
when I got to help someone
Tied up in paperwork
she can not get aid
with food
There are pantries
but one needs….
fresh
Fruit, meats..
For a sick husband
and teen age son.
I cannot boast true altruism
I knew her before yesterday
in fact i had offered
to take her shopping
for some vital things
fruits, vegetables, meat
yogurt, milk…
things that are needed
even in a world
that denies you benefits
because of paperwork.
G-d blessed me
With a lot more benefits
than I needed.
It is like a credit card
but for food
and yesterday
HER FOOD
Food sustains us with nutrients
to live
Helping others is what sustains
our love for human kind.
I have never seen
a face like the friend yesterday
having always been the one to give
getting a chance to accept
what should always be shared
Hunger goes beyond the stomach
hunger reaches to the soul
with need for expression
needs for things
that sometimes we can’t get
far beyond the material world
there is no equal
to the truth so pure
as the truth of man
MAN
But never do an act
to expect a return
or to have a debt owed
Who’s counting?
But no matter what
the gift and the “giftee”
each have to play their part
And even if they don’t know
Who sent the gift
They should say thank you
adding the grattitude
to the energy force of life.
The world stops spinning
just for me

To The Cosmos….and all it’s magic
Thank you for letting me be a part of the grand sceme.
and Thank you to the grand sceme
that gave me a gift
today.

  1. I just erased my reply to you. Don’t know what key I hit, but my words of wisdom are gone. Anyway….

A good deed never goes unnoticed by the One Who watches over all.

I remember playing in the autumn leaves. A girlfriend and I used to rake leaves into "rooms" and we’d pile up leaves for beds and chairs, and suchlike.

It was great growing up in a small town. But I think I’ll stay where I am. For now.

    Shalom

  2. cool entry about your old neighborhood. I used to love leaf piles, untill i jumped into one and it was all the slimy leaves that had been rotting and all the bugs that came with it… totally put me off leaf piles for life, or at least jumping into them without inspecting them.
