16 Mar 2010 - Spring break came and left
Dear Diary,

Spending spring break in Miami has been the topic of a lot of conversations since winter break. I did not know where I was going to spend my break so it became routine for me to say, “I haven’t decided.” I spent most of my time worrying about midterms and spring break was quickly approaching.
One of my friends brought it to my attention, “Spring break starts Friday. Have you made plans yet?”

As I was preparing to say my line, “I haven’t decided yet.” I realized I did not have anywhere to go for spring break. I wanted to go to New York to visit a friend but that became unlikely since prices for plane tickets increases the week of a departure date. And I couldn’t go back home to Fort Lauderdale because the prices for tickets are expensive since that city is a tourist attraction during spring break. A plan finally came when my freshman roommate and I decided that we could use our spring break as time to catch up.

The city of Hampton may have had a few events during the week but I did not take advantage of any of them. I spent the weekends talking to my freshman roommate. When she was at work I was online surfing the net or watching television. I did not spend all of my time in front of a screen. On Tuesday night, we went on an adventure.

My roommate is a family based person. She talks to her parents a least once a day. So when she decided she wanted to go to Connecticut for a couple days I wasn’t surprised. After her shift, we packed for our road trip to Connecticut. I was very excited. I had never been to Connecticut before. All night we sang along with the radio as we drove across the Chesapeake Bridge, through several tolls, and along side three cargo trucks, one of which cut us off, up a hill and around the corner to a house.

This trip was not about seeing the sites and partying until day break. It was completely family based. In the morning we ate breakfast with my roommate’s parents. In the afternoon, we picked up her younger sister from school, her niece from daycare and sister from work. In the evening we watched television and ate dinner. The following day we went to the mall and hung out with my roommate’s mom and sister. All the excitement was in the drive to and from Connecticut.

Sunday I went to the movies to see Brooklyn's Finest with Navy guy.
