So, here I am...
26 May 2009 - Hubby in Cambodia
It's quiet. Only the sound of Inspector Gadget plays from the loungeroom and the tapping of this keyboard. The little guy is watching the DVD I picked up this morning from the library. There wasn't much to choose from. I picked up an entire series of Robin Hood. Something to put on in the evenings while I'm beading since hubby is away. Not that it's at all likely I'll end up watching any. I will probably just sit and bead and enjoy the silence. I tend to do that when I don't have to have the telly on. I did that last night and it was so refreshing.

I got hubby and his sister away extremely early on Mondya morning. There was enough time to come home and crawl back into bed for seriously disturned sleep. My daughter had slept there, so the little guy could find someone in the bed should he wake in the night, but it was a mistake as far as hoping to get any extra sleep. I managed just under four hours at the SIL's place, and an hour and a half of mobile phone alarm going off every ten minutes in my own bed. It was worse than torture. I'm a get out of bed the moment the alarm goes off kind of person.

It did feel a little strange without anyone here yesterday. I dropped the little guy off at kindy, had a coffee and came home. I just buzzed around doing tidy up stuff because mum will arrive on Thursday night. I enjoyed a leisurely lunch, something I haven't done in ages. It almost felt like a time warp.

Today has been pleasant. The little guy asked to climb into bed with me at 6.30 this morning. I didn't really mind because I have a lot of extra room there right now. We snuggled together under the covers, but he wanted to chat. So, eventually I gave up on any more sleep and came out to the kitchen to make breakie. I managed to grab a shower, something I don't usually get in the mornings, and we headed out to the library. There were stacks of kids there for storytime. I am thinking he will soon be too old for it, but he loves to go and gets excited about it whenever it's Monday night. He's taken to identifying the days and asks each evening before bed what is happening in the morning.

He can now write his own name and will do so whenever asked. The letters aren't all in the right orientation, but they are definitely in the right place. And you can read it easily. I know that other words are not far behind. He is an avid reader, even though I know he doesn't always read every word, but he often does. I'm proud of my little guy.

Anyway, I will go. There's always something to be done around here.
