Friday June 1st
Well, it has been nearly a year since I wrote here. I have no excuses apart from life has got really busy with my teaching, photography, acting and church work. I rarely seem to have a day to breathe these days. I also feel that my life has hit a rut and there is nothing to tell. My past diaries were a hit as I always seemed to be out causing trouble or getting involved in things I shouldn’t be, and so were quite amusing, However, I do love to write and think about life and so I miss my musings on life, so I have decided it is time I started to write again. So here I go yet again.
This I feel is a great time to jump on board. Not only am I heading for the big 50th this summer, but it is the weekend of the Queen’s Diamond jubilee to kick off with a bang.
First of all I need to give a bit of a recap in my life so my deardiary friends can see where I am at. I have to say though nothing has really changed in my life. The main thing is that I am still single. I have had the odd date here and there, but as I am so busy with life I just feel I have no time for a guy in my life. My work has picked up really well. I am still supply (substitute) teaching by day and love the different schools I go to. My photography work as picked up and I have started working on exhibitions. On top of all that I do the occasional acting gig. My main job acting wise is ‘murder mysteries,’ whilst I am still waiting for my big break after the film I made in theUSAa short while back.
So that brings me nicely up to today. I have been working all week with a year 3 & 4 class at School Meadows, which is my favourite school. The kids were great and I really took to them. I has also been a fun week as it was a a run up to the Queen’s DiamonD Jubilee this weekend. So amongst the work we have made things and then had a big celebration on Thursday as the schools are closed next week. It was also funny as when I would call out the register in the morning or afternoon the kids would be silly and call me King Kent instead of Mr. Kent
A couple of funnies this week was first of all with one of the girls in the class, Chloe. She is rather small for her age and we were playing a game in class were you had to stand up. Chloe looked like she was still sitting down and so I said to her “Chloe you need to stand up.”
In reply Chloe pointed out, “I am standing.”
I was so embaraased especially as the TA (teacher’s assistant) started laughing and had to hide round the corner. Talk about ‘open mouth, insert foot.’
Another thing which made me titter (laugh) was a little incident today. I was reading from ‘The Twits’ by Roald D’ahl as all the kids sat around me on the floor. While I was reading I heard a ‘toot’ of a child sneaking out a fart. I looked up and saw one of the boys, Owen, look behind him. I knew it wasn’t Owen, but I could not resist asking him, “Was that you?”
“No,” he replied quite sternly.
“You sure you don’t need to check your shorts?” I asked, which was a little bit naughty of me, but I couldn’t resist.
“No,” Owen said again sternly, but giving me his cheeky grin as heknew I was playing with him. But it did make me giggle for the rest of the day.
Like I said it has been a delightful week and the kids have been great. At the end of the day I mentioned how much I had enjoyed the week and hopefully I will be back. At this the whole class gave a loud cheer, which made my day.
So that was it. Following school I went off to visit my folks in their holiday home just outside, Coastal City, where I live. They are from the midlands, where I grew up, but have a holiday home down here, so I get to see them every other week throughout the summer. This is great as we are a close family.
To be continued…
