I want a castle NOW!

Hmm so my mum got a bit silly over the weekend and started looking up castles and islands for sale all over the world, and she came across this castle in New South Wales. Just read this and look at the picture and tell me if we are all nuts for wanting to pack up and move up there?

Waterstone Castle is a 4-storey stone castle, built entirely by Australian Peter Keating, a builder/adventurer/ owner of a tall ship with 3 circumnavigations, world traveller and teacher. It is a totally unique pyramid design, with accommodation for 10 persons, with a focus on the symbiotic connection between water and the earth.

It was built over 7 years using locally-hewn sandstone-pink granite stone and stands on five acres of eucalyptus bushland, nestled into a small Swiss-style enclosed valley, with a pure mountain creek running through the property. There’s an abundance of kangaroos, kookaburras, wombats and other native animals, and absolute 360 degree bush and mountain views of the Great Australian Divide.

The Castle is 40 squares, comprising 5/6 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and ensuite, three toilets, large kitchen/dining area with walk-in pantry, sauna, two hot tubs, fernery, meditation and aura room, library and reading room, furnace, smokehouse and a large, open eastern-facing balcony. All five turrets have cathedral ceilings.

The gardens comprise 7 stone water pools, all inter-connected by flowing waterways, with artwork, awnings and a sixty-four square foot stone chess board, plus a stone pergola and stone garden shed. There is a 6,000 gallon (pure creek water) tank with unlimited supply, plus 11,000 gallon rain water tank supply. The gardens are still under construction, but the hard work has all been done.

There is also a 10 square steel workshed/office/storage area behind the Castle, as well as established native and fruit trees and cleared land for vegetable growing.

The creek has a totally secluded swimming hole with a 200 foot sandy beach, and can be crossed by a swinging bridge, near the lookout and magnificent natural stone amphitheatre area.

After crossing the Japanese bridge over the top goldfish and lotus pond, the impressive entry doors open to the internal waterfall which was designed to create sonic, harmonic resonance throughout the interior, with water gently falling from first to ground floor into a large, peaceful plant-surrounded rock pool inside the front doors.

All of this makes an inspiring retreat from the pressures of life, and provides a fabulous lifestyle with enormous business potential.

The internal fit out is with Oregon pine, salvaged from the Sydney Wool Stores (circa late 1800s) and the flooring is oak from the Bairnsdale, Victoria Theatre (circa 1930).

Internally, the style follows an old ship’s interior, with a crows nest at the top of the 44 foot ‘mast’ and a fabulous uninterrupted view of the beautiful valley. There are many wrought iron features and unique appointments, including hand-hewn furniture and ship’s rigging.

The Castle is situated 12 miles off the Sapphire Coast in South-East Australia, behind Mumbulla Mountain, a very spiritual sacred Aboriginal site.

The Castle, situated two miles from the Princes Highway, connects with Sydney (6 hours), Canberra (2.5 hours) and Melbourne (7 hours). The nearest airport is at the coastal town of Merimbula, approx. half an hour away ().

The Brogo Dam, a large freshwater fishing and hiking/water sports beauty area, is just five miles up the road.

Bega (internationally known for its cheese and dairy production) is the closest local town (population 5000) and is 15 minutes away. The Sapphire Coast is home to beautiful beaches, golf courses, water sports etc:

This is a unique opportunity to own a castle.

Any number of opportunities exist – it has a B&B licence, and was originally built as an esoteric healing/function centre and is an icon in the area.

Owner planning to now build new tall ship and sail to new adventures .

*gasps* doesn’t it sound heavenly??? And it already has a B&B license, so we could run a business there and maybe make some money off it…. but who cares about that, I want to LIVE there, NOW! But things like SCHOOL and WORK and FAMILY, not to mention MONEY might be a problem… or 500000 problems *chuckles*

But it isn’t out of the question and who knows what the future holds, maybe it DOES hold a castle with lots of beautiful ponds for us.

In other news….

Musik and I went off to the city to set up a display this morning, should have taken a half hour or so… but…

1, it was broken, missing screws and partly disassembled
2, despite the fact that we were in a hardware store, it took 20 minutes to get a screwdriver and some screws from the staff
3, the thing is REALLLLLY heavy and it ended up taking 4 of us a really long time to get it upright and near the space it had to go in
4, it turned out to be an inch too tall for the doorway it had to get through
5, the place was really filthy! that didn’t take any time, but I felt like pointing it out hehe
6, we were erecting a HUGE, HEAVY display, in a plate galss window area, with little or no control over the way it wobbled and shook as we erected it, hmmm potential for injury/damage? Much lots yes
7, It didn’t actually fit when we finally got it up!! But we manufactured a way to make it look acceptable then went and gorged on McDonalds Hot Cakes mmmmmmm syruppy goodness……

I really like the way that word looks syruppy… SYRUPPY…..

On that note, I am going to go twiddle my bits and look at stuff, I mean, work, yes work.
